Carly Fiorina images in Time Magazine

Thanks to Paul at Time for picking up two of my pictures of Carly Fiorina's campaign efforts in New Hampshire for this week's issue of Time. The pictures accompany an article by Philip Elliott called "Carly Fiorina's Convenient Truths."

Tearsheet: Trump images in Le Monde’s weekend magazine M

(screenshot of Le Monde magazine website - 12 Oct. 2015)

I could not be more excited about Le Monde's publication of my coverage of Donald Trump's campaign in the paper's weekend magazine, M le magazine du Monde, on 8 October 2015. Lucy and the rest of the editorial team used eleven pictures over five pages to accompany an article about the frenzy surrounding the candidate. The article is in French and is available online here. Wish I could read it!

A few pictures from one of Trump's rallies were also published earlier this year by New York magazine's Daily Intelligencer blog.

There will be spice: Roads and Kingdoms publishes my Chongqing streetfood work

Roads and Kingdoms has just published some of my photos and writing about Chongqing's famously hot streetfood in a feature called There Will Be Spice. It's the first time I've really had my writing published, and the photo edit is a bit different from what Foreign Policy and China File published from the work.

I'm especially excited about this one for a few reasons: it's one of my favorite websites for original journalism; the Society of American Travel Writers calls it America's Best Travel Journalism Site; and my pictures led the site on the first business day after the announcement of food and travel extraordinaire Anthony Bourdain's investment in the site.

Thanks especially to Pauline at R&K for her interest and effort in producing the piece.

Tearsheet: Christopher Soghoian in IEEE Spectrum April 2015

I'm always excited when old work gets new life in a new publication. In this case, a photograph of Christopher Soghoian from a 2012 shoot for MIT Technology Review was used in the April 2015 issue of IEEE Spectrum magazine. The 400,000 circulation magazine is sent to members of the engineering organization, but the article is available to read online.

Thanks to Randi at IEEE for getting in touch and for the great play for the picture.

Eat it and Weep: Foreign Policy publishes Chongqing streetfood images

After ChinaFile published my essay on Chongqing's Streetfood last week, I was happy to get an email from David at Foreign Policy's Tea Leaf Nation site. He was interested in publishing the pictures, not least because he'd lived in Chongqing for a while and missed the food. You can see the feature here, Eat It and Weep: China's Mouth-Blistering Street Eats. It's a shorter selection than ChinaFile published, but there are a few different images. As you can see in the screenshot at left, the piece was also featured at the top of ForeignPolicy.com yesterday.

Thanks again to both Davids, at ChinaFile and at Tea Leaf Nation, for publishing this work.

Chongqing Streetfood for Asia Society’s ChinaFile

The Asia Society's ChinaFile site just published a story I shot in Chongqing last August on the city's streetfood. It was a great assignment, but a tough one, though not for the usual reasons. I was moving so fast from spot to spot that night that I didn't get to try any of the food. It was tough to see so much good food and not get to taste it.

Small Concrete Boxes published by BuzzFeed

I'm very excited to announce that BuzzFeed has published Small Concrete Boxes, my work on the deplorable conditions in China's zoos. While images from the series have been published over the years, this is the most complete version of the essay to be published. I couldn't have asked for a better place to publish it, frankly.

Initially I had reservations about publishing work at BuzzFeed, having really only known the entertainment side of the publication. But the website's audience is in the millions, and my goal is always to reach a wide audience with my pictures. After the pictures were published last week, I received emails from around the world expressing dismay at the conditions of the animals in the zoos and wondering what people could do to help. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a good answer to that question, but I'm glad that my pictures inspired others to take notice.

Thanks again to Gabriel at BuzzFeed for publishing the work.

Meet the Godfather of Wearables for The Verge / Vox Media

A few months back, The Verge / Vox Media contacted me for a couple of shoots in the Boston area, the first of which being a profile of Dr. Alex “Sandy” Pentland of MIT’s Media Lab. You can read the article and see a few more pictures from my 10 minutes with Pentland at The Verge: Meet the Godfather of Wearables

You can see a few more pictures in the recent work section of my website.

Earlier this month, I photographed Dr. Michael Levin and his lab at the Tufts Center for Regenerative and Developmental Biology for New Scientist magazine, my first assignment for the publication. Three pictures ran in print with the interview (seen above) and online. Thanks to Dave at New Scientist for calling me for the assignment.

You can see more images from the shoot in the recent work section or in my online archive.

I photographed Glenn Greenwald for Danish newspaper Dagbladet Information. You can see a few more shots in the Recent Work section of my website, or in my archive. My picture accompanied an interview with Greenwald on a wide range of topics surrounding the NSA Leaks and Edward Snowden, including how the Danish government works with the US government on mass surveillance programs. The article is available on Information’s website, and includes the full interview in English.
